About the Exhibition

Of Grit and Grid is a site-responsive exhibition taking place in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on May 2, 2026. The project continues Site Seen’s mission of activating overlooked, transitional, or underused spaces through contemporary art.

The Williamsburg site is architecturally raw and materially direct. It carries the imprint of structure, repetition, pressure, and utility. We are interested in work that responds to these conditions, whether through material choices, formal language, conceptual framing, or spatial awareness.

We welcome submissions across disciplines, including but not limited to sculpture, installation, wall-based work, photography, and interdisciplinary or site-aware practices.

What We Are Looking For

We are especially drawn to work that engages:

  • Structure, framework, or systems

  • Material tension or industrial residue

  • Compression, repetition, constraint, or endurance

  • The dialogue between order and disruption

  • Spatial intelligence and presence

This exhibition is intentionally tightly curated. We are assembling a small group of artists rather than a large-volume showcase.

Review the Prospectus prior to applying.

Participation

Selected artists will be included in a professionally organized exhibition with documentation and promotion through Site Seen platforms.

Site Seen is an artist-run nonprofit organization. In the event of artwork sales, a 35% organizational share supports exhibition production, space activation, documentation, and future programming. The remaining 65% is paid directly to the artist.

Final details regarding installation logistics, timeline, participation expectations, and agreement terms will be shared with selected artists.

We are building a tightly considered exhibition, not a high-volume showcase. Each inclusion is intentional.

If this exhibition feels aligned with where your work is headed, we invite you to apply.
